Here we are, a few days short of 16 weeks, and I’m finally feeling better! For the last week or so, I’ve been feeling nauseous occassionally, but haven’t actually been sick but once or twice and have only suffered mild headaches. I’m still tired, though! I better not get too used to going to bed at 9:00PM and sleeping straight through until 7:00AM, even if the pregnancy allows me to continue that schedule, which is doubtful, once Jackaruby arrives it’ll definitely be ancient history!
One exciting new feeling is the baby moving. I felt it for the first time over the weekend as I was lying in bed reading. All of a sudden I felt a kind of flutter like a butterfly or fish was inside of me. I have only felt it one time since, so I must only feel the really big movements for now. It’s hard not to wish I felt more, but I’m sure soon enough it’ll go from feeling like a light flutter in my abdomen to a not-so-welcome harsh elbow to the kidney and I’ll be wishing I felt it less!
Other exciting news is that we have been working on the nursery. It’s early to have it set up already, but we’re so excited that we couldn’t wait. We purchased a crib and dresser/changing table a few weeks ago, then we painted the room. We decided to do solid yellow on the top half of the walls and yellow and white stripes on the bottom. This weekend we finished it off by putting up the border and it looks very bright and very cute! You can see a picture of the border that we used (frogs, of course) below, and if you click on it it will take you to an album with pics of the room. So weird to walk by that room everyday and see it set up like a baby lives there! In about six months one will!

We got to see our little one moving around quite a bit and even got a glimpse of fingers & toes. Here’s pics from the ultrasound.
Jackaruby is our nickname because if we have a boy it’ll be Jack, or if it’s a girl, Ruby. “Jackaruby” sounds like “Jack or Ruby”.

As I’m sure most of you already know, Chad and I are expecting our first baby in March!
We’re already in the 3rd month and are just getting around to setting up a weblog with pictures and to record the events of the pregnancy. We’re naughty parents-to-be. Now that it’s here, though, we do intend to update the blog often, so stay tuned!
The basic details of the pregnancy so far: Current due date is March 17, 2007, St. Patrick’s Day! I hope I am wrong, but I have a feeling based on family history that it’ll be weeks after that when the baby actually comes. Whether it’ll be a he or she that comes we won’t know until it’s here, Chad and I don’t intend to find out the sex before the birth. While we wait, we’ve been busy preparing – emptying our guest room as well as getting and building a crib and other furniture for the nursery that we are setting up in there. And I’ve been busy being sick and tired. I am nauseous all day and night, have had migraines, and am constantly exhausted. But, I am just entering the 2nd trimester and have been told by reliable sources that I will be feeling better soon. Despite having lost some weight, I am definitely starting to show, as you can see in the pictures below that Chad took this evening.
We are having another ultrasound on Friday and plan to work more on the nursery this weekend (morning sickness allowing), I expect to have pictures from both and another update to share soon.
